Who We Are

At Saluda Hill Baptist Church, we are a family of believers committed to loving God, loving people, and sharing the hope of the Gospel. Whether you’ve been following Christ for many years or you’re just beginning to explore faith, you are welcome here.

We gather each week to worship, study God’s Word, and encourage one another. Our prayer is that you will experience the presence of God and find a place to belong.

Our <span style="color:var(--primary-color-bg)">Mission</span>

Our Mission

Our purpose is to be filled and used by the Holy Spirit to share Christ with as many people as possible in our church, community, and throughout the world.

Our goal as a church family is to provide a worshiping fellowship that uplifts and encourages its members and visitors and provides a place to experience an awareness of God, recognize His person, and respond in obedience to His leadership. We serve not only our members, but our community and missionaries around the globe.

Our Motto

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

– Psalm 121:1-2

What We Believe

We believe that the Bible was written by men divinely inspired; and is the perfect treasure of heavenly instruction; that it has God as its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the world the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinion should be tried.

2 Timothy 3:16. Isaiah 8:20, Acts 1:16

We believe that there is one, and only one living, and true triune God, an infinite, intelligent Spirit, whose name is Jehovah, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honor, confidence, and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious office in the great work of redemption.

John 4:24, Acts 17:24, Exodus 15:11, Mark 12:30, Romans 1:20, John 10:30, Ephesians 2:18

We believe that salvation of sinners is wholly of grace; through the mediatorial office of the Son of God, who by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon Him our nature and became man, yet without sin; honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and by His death made a full atonement for our sins; that having risen from the dead is now enthroned in heaven; and, uniting in His wonderful person the tenderest sympathies with divine perfections. He is in every way qualified to be a suitable, compassionate and all sufficient Savior.

Ephesians 2:5,8, Acts 15:11, Romans 4:16, John 4:10, Hebrews 7:25, Colossians 2:9, Hebrews 2:18, Isaiah 53:4,5

We believe that Baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, into the name of the Father and Son and Holy Ghost; to show forth, in a solemn, joyful, and beautiful emblem, our faith in the crucified, buried and risen Savior, with its effect, in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; that it is prerequisite to the privileges of a church relation ,and to the Lord’s Supper, in which the members of the church by the sacred use of bread and wine, are to commemorate together the dying love of Christ, preceded always by self-examination.

Mark 1:5-9, Acts 8:36-39, Matthew 3:5-6, John 4:1,2, Romans 5:4-5, Acts 22:16, Mark 16:16, Luke 22:14-20, Acts 2:41-42

We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity should be engaged in outside of marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex.

Genesis 2:23, Genesis 19:5, Genesis 26:8-9, Leviticus 18:1-30, Romans 12:26-29, 1 Corinthians 5:1, 1 Corinthians 6:9, 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8, Hebrews 13:4

We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being, endowed with the same right to life as any other human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of human life. Abortion is murder. We reject any teaching that abortions of pregnancies due to rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, or the mental well-being of the mother are acceptable.

Job 3:16, Psalm 51:5, Psalm 139:14-16, Isaiah 44:24, Isaiah 49:1,5, Jeremiah 1:5, Jeremiah 20:15-18, Luke 1:44
